Did you know that your Partner may not automatically inherit the property if you pass away, even if you have a joint mortgage?

So, why is it important to get your Will sorted out?
In simple terms, if you haven't gotten around to writing a Will before you pass away it's the Government who decides how your Estate is distributed, your family or loved ones won't have a say the Government will decide who inherits your property and other assets based on your blood line and not your actual wishes! This is especially important if you wouldn't want a member of your family to inherit from you.
Writing your Will is almost certainly one of the most important decisions you can make for You and your loved ones, which is why we think it's imperative that you get seek professional experienced advice and get it right - First Time.
As we said, if you don't manage to write a Will then it's the Government (via the Probate Office) that decides who is going to inherit your Estate. This is because you have died Intestate, and under the Law of Intestacy it's the Law and not your family who decides what happens to your possessions, and there is no guarantee that their decision will be in the best interest of your family or loved ones because the Law of Intestacy contains some very complex rules relating to the distribution of your Estate, including how much a Spouse or Civil Partner can inherit automatically, so unless you are happy for the Government to have the final say on what happens to your house, money or other possessions when you pass away you should talk to Family First Consultants, get some expert advice then take control and write your Will.

Making a Will gives You and your loved ones Peace of Mind.
We don’t want to sound morbid, but let’s face it, we are all going to die. (we just don't know when!)
Which is why we are amazed that over 60% of UK adults still haven't made a Will!
There could be any number of reasons why you haven't got round to doing yours yet, but whatever the reason, we are here to help.
Some people think that making a Will is only something to consider when you are "older", but if you are over 18 and have young children you actually need a Will just as much as someone who is a bit more "mature" with savings and a house which is mortgage free.

Online Will writers could cost your family their ENTIRE inheritance!
Families are at risk of leaving their wealth to the wrong people or destroying entire inheritances by using cheap online Will writers – and the risk is growing!
Legal experts are warning of a rapid rise in disputed Estates as more people use cheap online Wills rather than paying to use a Solicitor or Professional Will writer. Thousands of UK families could be plunged into conflict over contested Wills as a result, others could pay unnecessary amounts of Inheritance Tax! Whilst it may sound tempting to use a cheap online service to arrange your Will, it could prove hugely expensive in the longer run.
Some online services charge as little as £10-£20 but families who use them could face losing far more than the money they “save”. Online Wills do offer a “slick user experience”, and they may be appropriate for those with “simple” Estates. However, around 66% of those who believe their Estate is “simple” actually have circumstances which are far from that and need face-to-face advice from a specialist Will writer or Solicitor according to a report based on independent research.
Incredibly, 25% of people who used an online Will writing service didn’t bother to understand or even READ the Will they signed! Co-founder of Funeral Solution Expert, Simon Cox said online Will writing providers are “building a future pool of unsuitable and contested Wills”.
Common things in today’s society such as second marriages, children from previous relationships, business ownership, self-employment and assets held outside of the UK could all make a Will much more complex and require specialist advice, as would “disinheriting” a family member who might otherwise “squander their inheritance”.
It has been documented that some online services even fail to check that the person making the Will actually has the necessary mental capacity legally required in order for any Will to be valid!
Worse still, is that online Will services offer little or no liability if the Will is contested. Michael Culver, chairman of Solicitors for the Elderly, said recently that using an online Will writing service could ultimately cost your loved ones their entire inheritance, which may run into hundreds of thousands of pounds on some Estates.
Unfortunately, Wills remain largely unregulated so if something does go wrong families have nowhere to complain and no legal right to any compensation.
However, it is worth noting that Solicitors and Professional Will writers who are members of the Society of Will Writers MUST have professional indemnity insurance of at least £2 million to protect their clients against any future claim. In contrast, online Will providers typically limit their liability to the cost of the Will.
Compensation of £20 doesn’t seem sufficient to cover a mistake or poorly written Will which could cost someone their entire inheritance does it?
These “catches” are mostly hidden in the terms and conditions, and are rarely mentioned as part of the sales process, causing some experts to comment that “Online Will writing services often do not live up to marketing claims”.
Whilst the limitations and exclusions may not matter to the person making their Will today, they will most definitely matter to their loved ones if the Will doesn’t do what it was intended to, and they have no-one to claim against!
